Are you politically brainwashed?

Before we proceed, you need to be crystal clear about something regarding my belief; I hate political multiparty system. I hated it when it was first introduced in our country in 2005, I still hate it, and I will keep on hating it even if I’m the only one hating it. I loathe it so much that my next article is going to be about just how much I despise it from every fiber of my being.  The party system’s secret (yet strangely not so secret) agenda is to brainwash citizens to the point that they turn against each other.

If you’re a member of a party or subscribe to one, it’s most likely that you’ve been brainwashed to believe their every word, including the bunch of lies they will tell you and the false hope and sense of security they will provide you with.

You must be thinking, “Shut up, I’m not brainwashed! Just because I’m a member of a party does not mean I’m brainwashed, you little piece of shit!”

You see, the thing with being brainwashed is that you don’t know you’re being brainwashed. But lucky for you I’ve got hints to make you aware just how brainwashed you are.

1.You participate in almost any riot conducted by your party and/or fully support the said riot.

2. 2. You tend to get in to fights with your relatives and friends if they speak ill of your leader.

3. 3. You will watch, read and believe only the news broadcasted and printed by your party’s channel or newspaper.

Let’s see point one: You participate in almost any riot conducted by your party and/or fully support the said riot.

There’s a difference between a “riot” and a “peaceful protest,” if there is one. You will be willing to be an activist of a riot that may even include damaging property, screaming profanities, and downright unfairly harassing an individual on the streets.

Your party has brainwashed you enough to cloud your moral judgment and confiscate your discipline, or whatever there’s left of it. You’d convinced yourself that the whole point of the “gathering” was to express your disapproval in a matter and make things right, but unfortunately, what you’re doing is only going to result in more harm than good.

There are little kids who do not need to hear your profanities, who do not need to see you damaging government and civilian properties. I’m not saying you shouldn’t stand up for what you believe in, you should. Just make sure that what you believe in is not entirely stupid and blindly influenced by the party you’re devoted to.

Point two: You tend to get in to fights with your relatives and friends if they speak ill of your leader.

Ever heard of the phrase, “to divide and conquer”? It’s an accurately applicable concept to the thinly-veiled strategy of the party system to brainwash a bunch of citizens enough that they lose sense of family and friendship values.

I can’t really say that it’s an intentional strategy; maybe it’s not. But the result is definitely destructive. Nothing divides the society like brainwashed citizens who are willing to cut ties of blood for a political leader that they may know nothing about.

And if you advocate this kind of ill-informed ethics just because they insulted your leader, then you’re blindly fighting someone else’s battle.

Point three: You will watch, read and believe only the news broadcasted and printed by your party’s channel or newspaper.

This might sound somewhat hypocritical coming from an aspiring journalist. But the thing about media is that you can never trust it. Media is the number one most effective and dangerous means of brainwashing a mass audience. No matter how much they claim the legitimacy of any news published, you can never be certain of their claims, especially if the channel or paper is openly biased over a party.

A friend who happens to be a novelist once mocked me saying and I quote, “We, novelists, tell the truth through fiction and you, journalists, tell fiction through the truth.” Sadly, it’s so accurate, and it’s exactly the reason why I want to become a journalist; because I do not trust the media at all. So why not become the media, right?

Never blindly believe something completely unless you see it for yourself. Your party’s channel will broadcast what they want you to hear and what they want you to see. They will pick a conclusion of their liking and build up a story around it for you. Proof? Do they broadcast anything positive about the opponent’s party? No. Do they broadcast anything negative about their party? Hell no!

They will spread the legs of your logical compass to their favorable degree and draw a circle around you, and you will be forever blinded to everything else beyond that circle. Reading, watching and believing only what your channel and newspaper tells you, is the ultimate form of ignorance. Your knowledge and individual belief becomes restricted and limited once you blindly subscribe to a party.

So, do you think you might be brainwashed?

  1. I don't hesitate to say that I'm politically brainwashed, 'cause I do sometimes get into fights with my best friend when he speak ill of the leader I support. And I THINK almost everyone who are involved/interested in politics is knowingly or unknowingly politically brainwashed.
    Are you? :)

    1. Well, everyone is brainwashed to some degree regarding anything, not just politics. And I'm a writer, my job IS to brainwash people. :) As long as it doesn't cloud your moral judgement, it's fine.
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment!
