Who are you?
I'm a very bored 19 year old Maldivian female, and an aspiring journalist with a lot on mind. I have a passion for writing and I believe it's my most effective means of communication. I also have political and social beliefs I firmly hold on to, and this blog will contain most of that.
Why create this blog?
Because I want to be heard. And also to piss some people off.
Why The Progressivists?
Despite what one may think, this blog has no affiliation with the Maldivian Progressive Party, however, I do share most of their political ideology and views; about 95% of their political ideology and views. I choose to not represent any political party not only because of my distaste for the party system but also because the waves of politics are unpredictable and I feel that being tied down to one certain party limits my perception and opinions. Some of my views may not be consistent with theirs, and some of their views may not be consistent with mine, so I think it's wise that I don't represent any party.
As a citizen, I want progress and I favor positive new thinking. I believe we're in need of a big change; socially, economically and educationally.
If you've guessed already, you've guessed right that I don't favor Mohamed Nasheed or his politics.
What will this blog be about?
Articles are not restricted to politics and definitely not just to Maldivian topics. I will highlight global issues I feel that should be talked about more. My major concerns lie on the current educational system and the sudden rise in social unrest, so expect to see much of that.
Also, updates on this blog are heavily biased.
Can I buy you?
Why yes, of course. I'm on sale.
Is Progressivist a real word?
Yes, yes it is.
